Jill joined the Misha’s Vineyard team in April 2011 and is an absolutely essential part of the team!
Her forté is numbers and she’s one of that strange breed who enjoys figures and creating order from the chaos of transactions within a business. She makes sure everything balances and everyone is paid – including the staff!
Jill also ensures compliance and regulatory requirements are in place for all aspects of producing, exporting and selling wine. She liaises with our export markets and coordinates our freight and shipping to over 20 export markets. But that’s not all! Jill is involved in other aspects of the business and developed our wine club, found names for new wines as well as writing back labels, reviews and proofs all of our marketing documents and also helps out at wine fairs or in the Tasting Room when we need an extra pair of hands.
Prior to moving to Central Otago in 2008 Jill had lived most of her life north of Auckland (in and around the wine district of Matakana), then 9 years in Napier (amongst the wineries of Hawkes Bay). Her business knowledge and experience had been gained ‘hands on’ – mostly in Chartered Accountants’ offices, but also in roles as diverse as Practice Manager of a dental surgery and Executive Officer/Bursar at a Catholic girls’ secondary school. Since joining Misha’s Vineyard, she has completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business (Wine Marketing) from EIT.
Jill is happy she moved to the wine industry although she does have to cope with the constant comments from friends and family that she must have an easy job because she always seems to have a glass of wine in hand! The reality is she has an incredibly busy job but she still finds time for hiking or biking the spectacular trails around Central Otago and spending as much time as she can on the golf course.
