Richard (Rich) Williams
Vineyard Manager/Viticulturalist
Richard’s job is to work with the Winemaker and Consulting Viticulturalist in producing superb fruit every season. He strives for balance in the vineyard, as per his Libran tendencies, and is constantly questioning and refining his growing philosophies.
A creative and practical person, Rich trained as a Graphic Designer at the University of Otago. Two years overseas was enough for him to realise New Zealand was where his heart was. His passion for viticulture and working outdoors was discovered whilst on a winter holiday in Central Otago.
Largely self-taught, Rich has 9 years experience producing some great fruit on several challenging vineyards in nearby Gibbston and Lake Hayes. He is now finally coming ‘round to the fact that Misha’s Vineyard really is a frost-free site and is thrilled that he can sleep through most Spring and Autumn nights without a worry.
Rich enjoys a beer after a dusty day on the vineyard, and he firmly believes it takes a lot of beer to make good wine! (His ambition is to remain ahead of Bogart on the profile list).
